Documents, correspondence, newspaper articles, and pamphlets, re. Julius Penn's distinguished career in the United States Army. Includes appointment to West Point signed by Robert Lincoln (5-5-82); numerous commendations for service, especially during War of ł898 while fighting in the Philippine Islands; and 2 TLS from John J. Pershing, a classmate and friend of Penn, to his sister Jennie in Batavia, Ohio (1934,1938) after Penn's death. Also contains two pamphlets; "A Narrative of the Campaign of Northern Luzon, P.I." by Penn and a memorial to Penn issued by West Point.
